If you ask operators what they would like to see in a future intralogistics system, they generally focus on aspects like increased efficiency, enhanced process safety, reduced costs, greater flexibility, improved ergonomics for the driver and lower energy consumption. While every new development in the field of forklift trucks attempts to take these requirements into account, there are numerous obstacles — for example the laws of physics, legal issues or ergonomic factors — which stand in the way: Structural analysis limits the lifting height, while safety requirements dictate reduced speed levels. The goal is for the driver to be able to concentrate as much as possible on his core tasks without being distracted by auxiliary ones.
By definition, forklift trucks cannot travel at unlimited speeds or lift loads to unlimited heights. To “accelerate” material flows while at the same time ensuring enhanced process safety and improved ergonomics for the driver, Jungheinrich actively integrates the truck into the logistics system’s information flow.
With the Jungheinrich Logistics Interface the forklift truck becomes the
“communications centre” between the warehouse management system and a wide range of
solutions for process optimisation, e.g. Warehouse Navigation, Automatic Scanner, RFID.
