In a modern warehouse with high performance rates it is important, to have safe processes and nevertheless great time savings. For example with pallet registration and tracing or storage place identification. The conventional method - manual scanning - is rather time-consuming.
Are pallets and their movements as well as storage positions registered automatically and tracked with the Warehouse Management System (WMS), this will contribute essentially to the efficiency of the warehouse. Jungheinrich offers additionally to the conventional manual scanning automated solutions for fast and efficient identification of pallets and storage positions.
Automatic scanning
A barcode scanner is attached to the fork shank or load backrest of the truck. On retrieval the barcode on the pallet or pallet rack is read fully automatically. The WMS can then begin testing, processing and activating of other stages in the process (e.g. activating a transport order).
Multiple pallet transports
When several pallets are transported at once, all the pallets are registered at Goods Inward or production and compiled into a logical block in the WMS. This pallet block is then immediately handled through the whole warehouse process as a logical unit. To identify the block, the leading pallet ID is scanned. The WMS automatically relates the other pallets in the block. This means that each individual pallet can be traced indirectly via its corresponding block.
Advantages
- High level of process safety
- Low error ratio.
- By creating blocks in the Jungheinrich WMS, multiple transports can be tracked reliably.
- Great relieve of the truck driver.
